Ampeg B18-N 1966

For sale: a 1966 Ampeg B-18, a classic vintage tube bass amp with the warm, deep, unmistakably old-school tone that made these amps so desirable in the first place. A beautiful piece of vintage Ampeg history, with original character and the right service work already done.

This amp still retains some of its original tubes — all except the power tubes — which adds to its authenticity and vintage appeal.

Service work carried out:

new 3-conductor grounded power cable installed
capacitors replaced (one had already been changed previously); the original multi-section can capacitor was left in place for cosmetic originality, as it still serves as a grounding point
original “death cap” / polarity cap removed for safety, along with the high-voltage circuit in the speaker cable
old deteriorating internal damping material removed and replaced with new acoustic foam insulation
potentiometers cleaned
tubes tested, bias checked, cold solder joints corrected, grounding improved, and general electronic reliability addressed
cabinet tightened and resecured
gasket between the cabinet and amp head replaced
Overall, this is a properly serviced and highly desirable 1966 Ampeg B-18 that keeps much of its vintage originality while benefiting from the essential maintenance these amps need after decades of use.
